Preventing screw loosening is as important as preventing screw damage. Although for modern motorcycles with low vibration, it is unlikely to cause trouble due to loosening of screws, but for motorcycles before the 70s, there are many models of motorcycles that have screws. The problem of loosening yourself.
Screw glue can be divided into three kinds of fixing strength: low strength, medium strength and high strength. The liquid type is the most common type, but there are also cross-sectional cylinders like lipsticks, which can be selected according to the specific situation.
During maintenance, it is inevitable to remove and install the screws. Before tightening the screws, the dirt on the threads must be cleaned up. In addition, when the screws are loosened, there is a feeling of “not very smooth”, you can use it. The anti-embroidery spray penetrates into it to prevent the screw from biting or even breaking.
In this article, we will introduce different screw glues. When fixing key safety parts and specific screws, please use screw glue.
The fixing strength is different, you must use it correctly
There are low-strength, medium-strength, high-strength and other types. The “high-strength” liquid screw glue is used here. The liquid viscosity is medium. There are also lipstick-like cross-section cylinders on the market. You can use it according to the place and situation of use. Different types of products.
“Sleeve fixing agent” when it is not easy to press into the bearing
For wheel hub bearings and engine bearings, especially crank bearings and transmission bearings, if the press-fitting tolerance is too tight and cannot be fixed, the bearing circumference is likely to rotate. In this case, it is best to apply a thin layer of heat-resistant sleeve fixing agent before pressing. In an oxygen-free state, the space between the bearing and the part is isolated from the air, and the outer surface of the bearing can be glued to prevent it from rotating .
▲The anaerobic adhesive used this time is Permatex’s high heat-resistant sleeve fixing agent. If the parts have been repeatedly disassembled and assembled, they should be designed for low pressure load, but sometimes the bearing will get stuck in it, even in such a position, the sleeve is fixed The agent can also fix the bearing externally.
Loosen press-in parts and screws effectively!
▲This is a high-efficiency product that can quickly cool the parts and penetrate the penetrating lubricant into the threads. Many companies now provide similar products, such as the “Freeze & Release” produced by Locktite in the United States, which can cool and squeeze the screws that are dangerous to seize, and then penetrate the lubricant into the threads at this moment.
▲When using this product, you must use the “temperature difference” to maximize its effect. Use industrial heaters to preheat the nuts and screws, and spray spray on the gap between the screws and nuts. Due to the penetrant of rapid cooling + anti-rust oil, the nut is easy to loosen, which is particularly effective for removing rusty screws.
Quenching and penetrating lubrication spray, can also be used for bearing disassembly
▲When pulling out the bearing of the wheel hub or chassis parts, the entire area around the bearing should be preheated and sprayed with a spray gun. The rapid cooling effect makes it easier to pull out. Remember to wear work gloves to avoid burns.
1. Since there are many kinds of chemicals related to screws, the right medicine can be prescribed.
2. As long as you use the right chemicals, you can get good results.
3. Using the principle of temperature difference expansion and contraction, it is easy to remove the seized parts.
There are many ways to prevent screws from loosening, but when tightening the parts that are not easy to loosen, such as the oil unloading screws that must be loosened to allow engine oil or gear oil to drain from the screw holes, screw glue is not suitable, but you can Drill a hole in the screw head, and then fix the screw with a wire. With the wire fixation, you can visually check the tightening state of the screw.
The most common screw glues are high-strength and medium-strength. No matter which manufacturer produces, red liquid and lipstick-like cylindrical are all high-strength, blue is often medium-strength, but be sure to check the product before use Explain that the amount of application must be moderate. If you see some overflow in the gap between the screws when tightening the screws, it is obvious that you have applied too much. In addition, if the screw is tightened too tightly with screw glue, you can heat the screw with an industrial heater, and the screw glue will be melted.
If you want to shorten the maintenance time and improve the working capacity, the use of various high-performance chemicals is very effective. By forming a temperature difference between the parts you want to take out and the nearby parts, you can take out the parts more smoothly than imagined.
Here I used “Freeze & Release” (manufactured by Locktite) to disassemble parts and bearings. Once you know how easy it is to use it, you will want to give full play to your creativity. I hope everyone can give it a try.
