Recently, security firm Bitdefender found 17 new adware applications in Google Play.
Once installed, these apps start to hide their presence on users’ devices and constantly show ads on phones. While not running malicious code, the tricks these applications use to bypass Google’s censorship system are categorized as malware.
According to Gizchina, the report from Bitdefender also said: “Hide 48 hours before starting to ‘break’ the device, split the application code into multiple files and only show ads 4 hours after installing the application. is one of the tactics these developers have used to be able to appear on Google Play. ”
Some malicious applications are designed to attack and steal user data. Other applications, such as those discovered by Bitdefender, display advertisements in the system. Reportedly, the total number of malicious applications discovered was 17 and their downloads amounted to 550,000.
