At Computex 2019, Dell launched new gaming laptops, targeting users who liked the sci-fi design of the Alienware Area 51m in a compact chassis. These two new laptops are an update of Alienware m15 and m17 with the same design and color options as Area 51m. Overall, the new thin-light gaming laptops from Alienware look much more modern than the previous generation.
Besides the new coat, Alienware m15 and m17 (2019) also has a redesigned keyboard and larger size glass touchpad. The journey of the new laptop models is increased to 1.7mm from 1.4mm of the previous generation, making it more satisfying when typing. Under the chassis are 9th generation Intel chips, from i5-9300H to i9-9980HK and graphics cards from GTX 1650 to RTX2080 depending on your choice.
And like other gaming laptops released this year, users can choose the monitor with a refresh rate from 60Hz to 240Hz in 1080p resolution. In addition, you can also choose OLED screen with 4K resolution but this option only supports 60Hz refresh rate. OLED screen version is also equipped with Tobii eye tracking technology.
Besides, Alienware also said that the new m15 and m17 will feature 8-phase voltage regulation for the GPU and 6 phases for the CPU. This means that the system will provide more reasonable power for the laptop's main components, making sure you can play the game for longer. Along with that, automatic overclocking technology will increase CPU speed when needed and you don't need to interfere.
Currently, even mid-range laptops can run most popular games. Therefore, the specs are no longer an advantage and Dell has to find another way to make its Alienware gaming laptops stand out. Applying Legendary design language to the thin and light m15 and m17 laptops will help Dell make a significant difference to its competitors. And although this new design is not really good for everyone, at least it is more personal than the previous generation.
Both Alienware m15 and m17 (2019) have a starting price of 1,500 USD and will be available from June 11.
