Chinese smartphones currently dominate the Russian market
According to market statistics from January to May 2019, Chinese smartphones accounted for about 34% of the market share, up 11% over the previous year. Some Chinese manufacturers including Huawei / Honor, Xiaomi, ZTE, OPPO and vivo have all started their business in Russia.
Meanwhile, South Korean giant Samsung is leading the Russian mobile market with 34.2% market share in May, Huawei ranked next with 28.5% and Xiaomi ranked third with 10.7% market share. .
Previously, Chinese smartphones mainly focused on cheap products. However, from January to May 2019, Chinese smartphones priced from 30,000 to 40,000 Russian rubles (about USD 475 – USD 633) grew fastest in Russia.
A few years ago, Chinese smartphones were considered cheap, unstable and wasted money when buying them. However, only a few years later, Chinese manufacturers tried to improve the durability of the product while maintaining low prices. This plays an important role in helping Chinese smartphone manufacturers conquer the world market and their brand becomes more valuable.
