A 38-year-old woman is accused of having committed sexual acts against a 17-year-old victim while she was working at the Center jeunesse de Québec, in 2017.
The alleged acts were committed when Marie-Claude Fortin was an educator at the Quebec Youth Center, almost four years ago. According to the three charges filed this morning at the Quebec City courthouse, the offenses were committed while Mr.me Fortin was in a position of authority or trust vis-à-vis the teenager who was 17 at the time.
Marie-Claude Fortin, in this story, is accused of sexual touching and invitation to sexual touching, but also of computer luring.
The case was reportedly opened in January, when an arrest warrant was issued against the lady. The latter reported to the police on January 15 and was released in anticipation of the arraignment, which officially took place on Tuesday.
The 38-year-old woman was fired from the Quebec Youth Center two years ago, on February 22, 2019, according to the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale. However, the CIUSSS did not give details on the context surrounding the termination of the employment relationship, indicating that the information was “confidential”.
The Quebec resident remains at liberty during the proceedings.
