BMW Motorrad Concept R18 2019 is the version of the bobber version introduced at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. This R18 is designed to replicate the classic style of the motor of the 60s. This is the 3rd car in the BMW Motorcycles series using 2-cylinder boxer engine. The first two are The Departed Rev from the Japanese workshop – Custom Works Zon and Revival Birdcage from the Revival Cycles workshop.
Concept R18 is a bobber with a minimalist style of 5 decades ago. This custom car uses a 2-cylinder 1,800 cc boxer engine, air-cooled and liquid. The R18 was inspired by the R5 model in the 1930s.
The engine block and drive system of R18 are made of aluminum blowing glass beads. Aluminum parts are polished by hand as well as belt and valve cover guards. R18 installed a Solex carburetor – like the details used on the BMW 2002 instead of using fuel injection. In particular, R18 with the motto of removing all excess, so almost electronic devices do not appear on the car except the starter and the lights.
The R18 concept uses the all-post transmission, the front wheels are 21 inches in size and the rear wheels are 18 inches. Vehicles using Metzeler tires, this is BMW Motorrad's partner tire company. Looking outside, Concept R18 is cool, beautiful and seamless. In addition, the car is impressive in the chrome exhaust pipe and everything of the car is displayed on the outside.
R18 has a double double line on a hand-painted gasoline tank and a front fork covered with an eye-catching gloss makes us relive the classic cars of the 50s and 60s. The bottom is supported by a strut. Classic drop-shaped fuel tank and mudguard are designed in short.
Mr. Edgar Heinrich – who is right at the beginning of BMW Motorrad Design, said Concept R18 was created with simplicity and power. Now R18 still has no detailed specifications. How do you see this Concept R18?
