Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: Design
The ThinkBook 15p is not classified as a mobile workstation because it is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce graphics card instead of the Quadro line of cards. Compared to its workstation laptop version, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme, the design of the 15p has not yet reached the MIL-STD military standard.
With a 3-way length of 14.1 x 9.8 x 0.78 inches, the ThinkBook 15p is about the same size as the Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED (14 x 9.8 x 0.78 inches), but slightly lighter with an overall weight of 1.9 kg. . The Dell XPS 15 has a slightly more compact design, with a length of 3 sides of 13.6 x 9.1 x 0.71 inches and a weight of 1.81 kg.
The outer shell of the ThinkBook 15p is made entirely from aluminum, finished with 2 distinct gray tones with the Lenovo and ThinkBook logos placed above. The device is equipped with a screen with a diagonal size of 15.6 inches, wrapped inside by a moderately sized bezel. Specifically, the two sides of the screen are quite thin, while the top and bottom edges are made a bit thicker.
The top edge of the device is equipped with a standard 720p webcam, which is supported by a physical lens closure for increased security. Unfortunately, you cannot use this webcam for face unlock. However, you can still use your fingerprint to log into the system easily.
The machine is fully equipped with all kinds of connection ports, helping you work effectively with many different types of peripherals. Along the left edge of the machine is equipped with an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, a USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an AC power port. Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: Keyboard and touchpad
Although equipped with a screen of equal quality to high-end ThinkPad models, the 15p’s keyboard set is of slightly lower quality.
On the strong side, the buttons are brightly lit through the lighting system below, and the number pad cluster on the side brings many conveniences during work. The keyboard has good sensitivity, but the button travel is not very deep.
In terms of minus points, the keyboard has a slightly narrow layout, which took us a bit of time to get used to. Meanwhile, the arrow key cluster of the device is a bit small in size, with the upper and lower 2 buttons being cut to half the size compared to the standard level.
The touchpad of the device has a standard surface area, which is placed slightly to the left of the body. The surface of the touchpad is smooth, allowing me to easily control the mouse pointer to interact with different applications on the screen.
