Introduce

In the 7-seater SUV segment, the Toyota Fortuner has truly become a “monument” in terms of sales with 12,667 vehicles in 2019. However, Fortuner faces stiff competition from general competitors. 7-seat SUV segment such as Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2021, Ford Everest and even 5 + 2 crossovers like Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe. Therefore, Fortuner is now also equipped with the most modern safety technology currently in order to continue to maintain its “throne”.

Price

Entering version 2021, Fortuner is assembled domestically by Toyota Vietnam with 5 versions and imported complete unit from Indonesia with 2 petrol engine versions. The selling price also recorded the lowest version (configurable floor number, diesel engine 2.4) decreased to 21 million, targeting customers to buy business cars. The specific selling prices of the versions are as follows:

Fortuner 2.4 MT 4×2: 995 million VND
Fortuner 2.4 AT 4×2: VND 1,080 billion
Fortuner 2.7 AT 4×2: VND 1,130 billion
Fortuner 2.7 AT 4×4: VND 1,230 billion
Fortuner 2.4 Legender AT 4×2: VND 1,195 billion
Fortuner 2.8 AT 4×4: VND 1,396 billion
Fortuner 2.8 Legender AT 4×4: VND 1,434 billion

Exterior

Entering the new version, Toyota Fortuner has two more special versions called Legender with interior and exterior design that are a bit different from the standard version. Specifically, the grille is smaller than the standard Fortuner, using a black plastic cladding instead of chrome plating.

The front bumper of the Fortuner Legender is designed to be pushed upwards, taking up part of the grille and having silver trim. The air intake cavity is also miniaturized and integrated with bi-led fog lights.

Although the headlights are kept the same appearance, the internal structure keeps the Fortuner Legender and completely different standards, one side is the 4-bi-led cluster (2 cos 2 phases) and the other is a bi-led.

The lower bumper is also redesigned on the Fortuner Legender, the turn LED strip is brought down below the bumper, while the standard Fortuner uses halogen bulbs.

Toyota Fortuner owns the overall dimensions Length x Width x Height 1,795 x 1,855 x 1,835 (mm), wheelbase 2,745 (mm). The car has the highest light in the segment (219 mm), helping to provide better performance on rough roads.

The rear of the car continues to show inspiration for a model with a sharp exterior with slender rear lights, overhead brake LEDs to increase the ability to identify other vehicles in the dark, more secure. . In addition, the rear bumper has also been redesigned with the shape of two L-shaped reflective niches to add a firm, sporty look to this SUV.

The Fortuner Legender’s rear lights use LED lights while the standard version is halogen.

In version 2021, Fortuner with 4×4 configuration (gasoline or diesel engine) all uses 18-inch wheels with a new design (Fortuner 4×2 AT Legender also has 18-inch wheels). The remaining versions use 17-inch wheels.

furniture

The most striking difference of the Fortuner Legender and the standard interior is interior space, on the Legender is dark red leather – black while the standard version is only black. Another detail is the 8-inch Fortuner Legender entertainment center screen with Apple Carplay or Android Auto connectivity. On the standard version, only 7-inch and no Apple Carplay or Android Auto connectivity

With an overall length of more than 4 m, Toyota Fortuner offers a spacious interior space. This spaciousness is cleverly combined by the manufacturer with the dome-style ceiling design in the left and right seats of the second row, helping passengers taller than 1.7 (m) really feel. You are comfortable with ample legroom and head space.

In the 3rd row, in the condition that the 2nd row is pushed forward all the way, the legroom for passengers over 1.7 (m) is acceptable. At this time, the distance from the seat of the person sitting to the back of the second row is still about 5 (cm).

Interior comfort on Fortuner 2021 is not really attractive or “luxurious” with the panoramic sunroof, electronic handbrake … as on competitors in the same segment and price range such as Ford Everest, Hyundai SantaFe, That Kia Sorento is pragmatic. Some high-end equipment on the 4×4 versions (petrol and diesel) can be mentioned as:

Glitter shifting on the steering wheel
4.2-inch multi-info screen driver
Leather car seats, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat (all except 4×2 MT)
Automatic air-conditioning system with 2 air-con systems, rear-seat wind doors
DVD entertainment 9-inch touch screen, USB / AUX / Bluetooth connectivity, JBL 11-speaker audio (4×4 versions)
Smart key & button start
Electric trailer collapsible (4×4 versions)
Cooling box

Operation – Safety

With Fortuner 2021, users have engine options including:

1GD-FTV, DOHC, 4 cylinders in line: 201 hp at 3,400 rpm (up 27 hp), maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1,600 rpm (up 50 Nm)
2TR-FE, DOHC, 4 in-line cylinders: 164 hp at 5,200 v / p and maximum torque of 245 Nm at 4,000v / p
2GD-FTV, DOHC 4-cylinder in-line: 148 hp at 3,400v / p and maximum torque of 400Nm at 1,600-2,000 v / p

In terms of safety equipment, Fortuner Legender and standard one-bridge configuration (4 × 2) are not equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense package. However, the two versions Fortuner 2.8 4×4 AT (Standard and Legender) are fully equipped with this technology package.

Back to Fortuner Legender and standard in 1 bridge configuration (4×2), the difference is that there is an additional 360-degree camera on the Legender while in the standard version is only the reverse camera.

General assessment

With outstanding upgrades on high-end versions such as TSS safety package, Fortuner 2021 is now much more perfect when equipped with the latest technology today. In addition, the standard versions with more competitive prices will be a good choice for customers who need a practical car. Along with persistence, easy to resell and less devaluation, the Toyota Fortuner 2021 will continue to “make it difficult” for competitors in the segment.
