[Real-time news/comprehensive report]There are frequent cases of rare side effects thrombosis after vaccination with Wuhan pneumonia (new coronavirus disease, COVID-19) vaccine. Recently, Johnson & Johnson vaccines also reported cases of blood clots in vaccinators. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said today (20) that warnings should be placed on the product label.

The Associated Press reported that in the United States last week, six patients vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine had thrombosis, and the vaccine has been temporarily suspended. The timeline for the launch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Europe has also been delayed. EMA today published the association between Johnson’s vaccine and thrombosis cases, stating that the product label of Johnson’s vaccine should be marked with a warning that “thrombosis may have very rare side effects”. EMA stated that their reference object was thrombosis cases that occurred in the United States. A total of 8 cases had thrombosis and thrombocytopenia symptoms after the Johnson vaccine was administered, including 1 death.

EMA also determined last month that the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine is related to the rare side effect of thrombosis, but still believes that the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.
