Renault announced on the 30th of last month (local time) an electrification strategy that aims to make 90% of the entire Renault group electric products by 2030.

The announcement is not limited to future electric models, but also includes a new platform plant to be built in France through the partnership.

Renault has announced that it will launch 10 all-electric vehicles by 2025. Renault 5 and Renault 4 Ever, etc. will provide a driving range of up to 400 km (based on WLTP) based on the CMF-BEV platform.

The CMF-BEV platform is an upgraded version of the CMF-B that supports Renault Group’s existing B-segment model.

The Renault 5 is expected to be 33% cheaper than the current-generation Joe Electric, thanks to shared parts, battery interchangeability and a low-cost 100kW powertrain, making it a more affordable electric vehicle for the general public.

A mass-production version of the Megan E electric crossover is expected to launch in 2022, with larger electric SUV models expected to follow. Both models are based on the CMF-EV architecture developed for Renault Group’s C and D segment vehicles. It is said that this will provide a driving range of up to 580 km (based on WLTP).

In addition, it will be equipped with a spacious interior space, low center of gravity, ideal weight distribution, and multi-link rear suspension.

By 2025, more than 65% of Renault’s lineup will be electric and hybrid models, and by 2030 up to 90% will be sold as pure electric vehicles.

From 2024, the Alpine Performance brand plans to introduce three all-electric model families consisting of a sports car, a hot hatch and a grand tour.

In the future, Renault Group plans to build a new type of e-powertrain with integrated e-motor and power electronics in a small package. This will cut costs by 30%, reduce energy waste by 45% and secure an additional range of up to 20km.
