BMW Korea officially launched the new BMW 4 Series in Korea with a unique design with a dynamic yet elegant style.
The new 4 Series is the second-generation full-change model of the BMW 4 Series, first introduced in 2013, and boasts a completely differentiated charm from the new 3 Series sedan by applying the latest design language of BMW. In addition, on the front, a vertical BMW kidney grill that inherits the heritage of legendary coupe models is newly applied, giving off an unrivaled presence.
The front view of the new 4 Series is harmonized with the new design grille extended to the bottom of the front bumper, mesh-type air intakes, and sleek headlights, creating an overwhelming atmosphere. The profile is completed in dynamic proportions with a long, wide body and short overhangs, and the rear, combined with a wide and distinct surface and full LED rear lights, emphasizes the powerful image.
The body is larger than the previous generation. The length of the car is 4,770mm, the width is 1,845mm, and the wheelbase is 2,850mm, which is 130mm, 27mm, and 41mm, respectively, increasing the interior space. The body height is 1,385 mm for the new 420i Coupe M Sport Package and 1,395 mm for the new M440i xDrive.
The interior designed around the driver is a blend of high-quality materials, emphasizing the luxury of premium sports models. In addition, sports seats and M leather steering wheel are standard, and the dashboard, door panel trim, and high center console provide an enveloping environment for front passengers.
The new 4 Series exhibits more stable and dynamic driving performance through the advanced body structure. The bonnet, hood, and front fenders are made of aluminum alloy for increased body stiffness and weight, improving overall performance, while custom body struts are applied to the front end and rear axle.
As a result, the new 4 Series Coupe boasts a lower body weight of 21 mm compared to the new 3 Series Sedan, and the new 4 Series Convertible is 22 mm lower, and the front and rear weight distribution is also set close to 50:50. In addition, the front and rear wheels are increased by 28mm and 18mm respectively compared to the previous generation, providing agile and sophisticated handling.
The new 4 Series boasts improved driving performance than the previous generation based on a powerful engine and powertrain. The 420i model is equipped with a BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum output of 184 hp and a maximum torque of 30.6 kg·m, combined with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission that ensures fast shifting and high efficiency. Accelerating from standstill to 100 km/h is 7.5 seconds for the new 420i coupe and 8.2 seconds for the new 420i convertible.
The new M440i xDrive coupe and convertible, the first high-performance M Performance model in the 4 Series, is equipped with an M TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 387 hp and a maximum torque of 51.0 kg m, with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. It accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds (based on the new M440i xDrive coupe, 4.9 seconds for the new M440i xDrive convertible). In particular, the steptronic sports automatic transmission has a new’Sprint’ function that adjusts the engine and shift characteristics to maximize dynamics during overtaking and acceleration in the mid-speed range.
In addition, the advanced driver assistance system’Driving Assistant’ is applied as standard. This feature includes active cruise control, forward collision warning system, lane departure warning system, and various driving aids for safe driving. In addition, the new M440i xDrive model is equipped with’Driving Assistant Professional’, which adds improved steering and lane maintenance assistance and an active navigation function that uses navigation information to indicate when it is necessary to change lanes in advance.

The new 4 Series Convertible boasts a more natural roof line with a new panel bow soft top. Consisting of layers of insulation and a fabric cover, this soft top fits tightly with the rear seat windows, boasting a high level of sound insulation and insulation, and can be quickly opened and closed in just 18 seconds at speeds of 50 km/h or less.

In Korea, the’New 420i Coupe M Sport Package’, a coupe lineup, will be launched first on the 1st, and the’New M440i xDrive Coupe’ and the’New 420i Convertible M Sport Package’ of the convertible lineup are scheduled to start selling in March. Subsequently, the’New M440i xDrive Convertible’ and Gran Coupe models will be released in the second half of this year, completing the new 4 Series lineup.
The new 420i Coupe M Sport package costs 59.4 million won, the new M440i xDrive coupe costs 81.9 million won, and the new 420i Convertible M Sport package costs 67.9 million won.
