Porsche Korea announced on the 26th that it will officially launch its first pure electric sports car’Taikan’ in Korea.
“We are very pleased to introduce the Taycan, the brand’s first pure electric sports car to the Korean market, which is the standard of sports cars of the future and marks the opening of a new era to Porsche. Starting with the introduction of’Taikan Turbo S’and’Taikan Turbo’, we plan to further strengthen our Porsche electric sports car product portfolio.”
‘Taikan 4S’ released this time is composed of two battery capacities equipped with a maximum 530 hp performance battery and a 571 hp performance battery plus. A single deck performance battery with a total capacity of 79.2 kWh is installed as standard, and a performance battery plus with a total capacity of 93.4 kWh is available as an option.
Both models of the’Taikan 4S’ equipped with Performance Battery and Performance Battery Plus take only 4 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h, and the top speed is 250 km/h.
The maximum charging power is 225kW and 270kW, respectively. The driving distance based on domestic certification is 289km for Performance Battery Plus, and the performance battery model is currently undergoing domestic certification.
Porsche Taycan is the first to apply an 800 volt voltage system instead of the usual 400 volts of conventional electric vehicles.
It can drive up to 100km in just 5 minutes using DC energy from the fast charging network on the road. Under optimal conditions, it can charge from 5 percent to 80 percent of the remaining battery in 22 minutes and 30 seconds with high power output of up to 270 kW.
Each of the front and rear axles is equipped with an efficient electric motor to create a four-wheel drive system.
Both mileage and continuous power have the advantage of gaining from the high efficiency of permanently excited synchronous machines (PSM). The electric motor, transmission, and pulse control inverter are each combined with a compact drive module and have the highest power density (compared to package space) among current commercial models.
A central networked control system is used in the Taycan chassis. Integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems in real time.
The chassis system includes both the adaptive air suspension with 3-chamber technology with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control, as well as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport Electromechanical Roll Stabilization System with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus.
The four-wheel drive control scheme with two electric motors and an energy recovery system is unique. Thanks to an energy recovery system capable of up to 265 kW, the Taycan can do about 90 percent of the braking in daily life with only regenerative braking without actual braking.
A clean and pure design reflecting Porsche design DNA marks the beginning of a new era. The front looks wider and flatter with the clearly outlined wings, and the silhouette is further accentuated by the sporty roof line sloping towards the rear.
The side design is also beautiful, and the sleek interior, shortened rear C-pillar, and a sharply emphasized rear design with a clear shoulder line reveal the typical Porsche design. There are also innovations such as the Porsche lettering in glass design on the long light bar at the back. The excellent aerodynamics of 0.22 Cd contributes to low energy consumption and long driving.
The new cockpit with a clear structure and completely new architecture also highlights the beginning of a new era.
The independent curved instrument cluster at the highest point of the dashboard is focused towards the driver, while the central 10.9-inch infotainment display and the optional passenger display are combined with an integrated glass band in a black panel look.
Porsche’s Taycan is the first to present a completely leather-free interior.
The interior made of recycled materials emphasizes the sustainable concept of the electric sports car.
The foot garage (space under the rear seats) provides a comfortable rear seat while maintaining the low elevation of a typical sports car.
The driving mode basically follows the same philosophy as the other Porsche model series, but supports special settings for optimal use of a pure electric drive.
Four driving modes are available:’Range’,’Normal’,’Sports’ and’Sports Plus’, and in’Individual’ mode, individual system settings can be set as needed.
The selling price of’Taikan 4S’ is 145.6 million won, including VAT. The’Taikan 4S’ is equipped with a performance battery as standard, and the Performance Battery Plus is optional. Delivery of customers begins in mid-December.
