145 COVID contaminated prisoners: prisoners in solitary confinement in Laval


In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, solitary confinement for all detainees was imposed in the multi-level security unit at the Federal Training Center in Laval.

This was announced on Friday by Correctional Service Canada (CSC), explaining that this decision was taken as a “precautionary measure after certain detainees [eurent] exhibited symptoms similar to COVID-19 ”.

In addition, as of Friday, seven employees working at the Federal Training Center had been declared positive for COVID-19.

According to the most recent CSC report, there were a total of 145 contaminated inmates in federal penitentiaries, including 83 in Quebec. At the Federal Training Center there were 25.

Recall that a first inmate serving a sentence in a federal institution died of COVID-19 on Wednesday at the regional hospital in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
