[Instant News/Comprehensive Report]The Chinese government oppressed the Uighurs in Xinjiang and was subject to international stigmatization. The British Parliament even passed a motion to affirm that China had committed “genocide” to the Uighurs. The British Council pointed out that the government had promised to impose sanctions on companies related to forced labor in Xinjiang, but so far there has been no concrete action and a negative attitude.

The BBC reported that the British Council’s Commerce, Energy and Industrial Strategy Department’s Select Committee stated that the government announced in March that it would sanction companies involved in forced labor in Xinjiang, but did not propose a precise timetable or take substantive actions, criticizing the government for handling Deliberately procrastinating on this issue.

The committee said that the British fashion, retail, media, and technology industries may be inseparable from forced labor in Xinjiang, requiring the government to impose fines and blacklist companies that fail to improve.

Congressman Nusrat Ghani mentioned, “On this issue, the government still rejects the vast majority of suggestions. It is extremely frustrating. Seeing these appalling evidences, it’s hard to believe that the government is actually in need of tough measures to deal with it. The work of exploiting labor in Xinjiang is stalling.”

The government spokesperson responded that the government will not only take measures to combat forced labor at this stage, but will also offer more measures in the future.
