02:12 Vietnam obtained about 4.9 million doses of vaccine through COVAX

[Central News Agency]Vietnam is expected to receive approximately 4.886 million doses of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19, Wuhan pneumonia) vaccine from AstraZeneca (AZ) in the United Kingdom in the first half of this year through COVAX.

Vietnam Express (VnExpress) reported that the British Embassy in Vietnam said on the 5th that the aforementioned vaccine dose can vaccinate approximately 2.5 million Vietnamese.

In addition to obtaining approximately 4.9 million doses of vaccines through COVAX, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the Vietnam Child and Adult Vaccination Center (VNV) is also negotiating with AstraZeneca on the supply of vaccines and is expected to import them in the first half of this year. 30 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine.

At the same time, Vietnam has also stepped up its negotiations with Pfizer, Moderna and vaccine manufacturers in Russia and China.

Vietnam currently has four domestic vaccines under development. Nanocovax, developed by Vietnam Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Company, has started human trials in December last year; the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biological Products (IVAC) of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam is expected to respond in mid-February. The Covivac developed was tested in humans.

As of press time, Vietnam has a total of 1976 confirmed cases, of which 35 died and 1,465 recovered. The rest of the patients undergoing treatment are in stable condition.
